Melissa Rae took some time from her busy schedule to answer some questions for us about her life being a model.
- Tell us a bit about yourself:
I’m a 22-year-old model and influencer living in Cary, North Carolina. I’m originally from
San Ramon, California. I’ve been modeling since I was seven years old. I love traveling, fashion, and
- What kind of model do you consider yourself and what are your goals?
When I was younger, I was more of a high fashion model doing a lot of runway work. Now I do a lot of
swim, fitness, catalog, and commercial work. I love all aspects and kinds of modeling; I’ve tried all of
them and they are all exciting for me in a different way. My goal is to continue modeling for as long as
possible. I would love to work with Sports Illustrated or Victoria’s Secret in the future.

I went from 🧹 to 🍑 with years of perfecting my booty workout routine. So yes i’m proud of all the work I’ve put into my body, but i still got a ways to go. 💪🏻 Should i drop a booty workout routine? No squats included (they aren’t doing anything for you) 🤦🏼♀️ Would you rather see my routine with no equipment or my weights/resistance bands routine? 👇🏻
- What do you do for fun?
Well, besides being a model and influencer, I have a full-time job back home in North Carolina in
Healthcare. I also am a student at East Carolina University. So, not a lot of free time! When I do have
free time, I love spending time with my family and friends. Some of my other hobbies include: Painting,
Motocross, Reading, Writing Poetry, Gardening, and anything creative!
- When did you fall in love with traveling?
Well, right after I graduated High School, I flew to Miami for a modeling contract and stayed for three
months. It opened so many opportunities up for me and I got to learn so many new things and meet so
many amazing people. After my time there, I came home and decided I wanted to continue traveling for
modeling. So, I signed with agencies all over the US, and continued to travel monthly to different cities
to work. When I was 20, I took my first trip out of the United States for a job in Rome, Italy. I fell in love
with learning a new culture and seeing the way other countries live. From then I’ve made it a goal to go
to at least two new countries a year.
- What are some of the places you’ve visited so far, and which was your favorite?
Within the US I’ve mostly traveled between CA, NY, FL, AND NC. I’ve been to about 15 different states
and am planning a cross country road trip soon to see some more! Hopefully I’ll be able to see all the
states before I turn 25! Internationally I’ve been to Italy, Spain, Belgium, and France. My favorite was my
trip to Paris, France.
- Where do you want to go next?
Obviously, I want to see as much as I can in my lifetime. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to have visited
every country and every state within the US. That is a goal of mine. Next, I’m not sure, it depends what
opportunities arise and where they decide to bring me. I have a few favorites I’ve been keeping an eye
on flight deals for though. Those ones are Aruba, Greece, Indonesia, Thailand, Iceland, and Japan. They
are at the top of my list!
- What would you say is the most difficult part about being a model?
I think the most difficult model is the pressure we put on ourselves, and the pressure the industry puts
on us. There is a lot of pressure from the industry to be perfect. You must have the perfect
measurements, the perfect hair, the perfect skin, the perfect bone structure. Luckily, the modeling
industry is progressing to be more inclusive of all sizes, shapes, and colors. We love to see that!!! The
ultimate goal is to not have so many models that look like models, but to be able to open a magazine, or
shop online and see a girl that looks like you! As a model, you also put a lot of pressure on yourself. You
get told no a lot, and you are picked apart. You have to believe in yourself and keep your confidence
high, while not comparing yourself to other girls. We are all unique and beautiful in our own way!
- What do you love about being an influencer?
I love so many things about being an influencer! I am just a small influencer on Instagram, but I’ve been
able to connect with so many amazing brands and people through the app. I fully believe that our future
in marketing is in social media, particularly influencers. It’s very cool to be apart of that and watch that
trend grow. I think my favorite part is being able to work with brands that I’ve loved for years and never
thought I would be able to collaborate with. I’ve checked so many dream collaborations off of my list,
even being a small influencer!

I completely busted my ass walking down these stairs and face planted after approximately 3 bottles of Dom Peri, meanwhile @courtneylcameron fell out of a swinging chair and busted her ass and if that doesn’t explain our whole Ibiza trip then idk what does. 😂🤷🏼♀️ . . . . . . - What is your secret to staying in shape?
For me it’s about consistency. That means working out, eating right, and drinking lots of water. Doing
that consistently is what keeps me in shape. I workout 5 days a week, for about 1-2 hours. I do mainly
resistance training and body weight exercises. I don’t do a lot of cardio or heavy weights. When it comes
to eating right, I try to avoid fast food at all costs. I also do not eat red meat. I eat only chicken and
turkey for my meat sources. My favorite healthy thing to make is home made smoothies!
- What is your life motto, or a quote that means a lot to you?
I don’t really have a quote that means a lot to me. I would just say that my life motto is to live life to the
fullest. You have one life to live, and that’s right now and right here. The possibilities of what you can do
if you believe in yourself are endless. Always believe you can reach, if not exceed your dreams. I also
always try to take every opportunity to experience new things. Especially if they get me out of my
- Where can people find you online?
